A Word on Condition

At The Cheshire Cat Co., I offer a carefully curated selection of fine, vintage, and antique hand-knotted rugs. Many of my vintage and antique pieces have lived long lives, and I believe that the character, wear, and patina they develop over time are part of what makes them so beautiful. The quality of their original craftsmanship allows them to age gracefully, often becoming even more compelling with time.

Because my rugs are handmade, no two are exactly alike. You may notice natural variations in size, weave, texture, or shape, as well as the occasional imperfection. Vintage and antique rugs may also show signs of their history, from gentle wear to more pronounced areas of age and character. I will always do my best to carefully assess and describe the condition of each rug so you can shop with confidence, and I’m always happy to provide additional photographs or a video upon request.

Every rug in my collection has been personally selected for its quality, beauty, and character. I only choose pieces that I would be proud to live with in my own home, and each rug is professionally cleaned before being received.

I photograph my rugs in natural light to represent their colors as accurately as possible. Because rugs are photographed at different times of day and the direction of the pile can affect how color appears, slight variations between the photographs and the rug in person are possible.

I promise to make every effort to give you an honest and accurate representation of each piece. If you would like additional photographs, details, or a video of a particular rug, please reach out to me.

When your rug arrives, you may notice slight creases or waves when it is first unfolded. This is completely normal after being packaged for shipping. These relax and disappear as the rug warms up, settles into place, and is used normally. This may take a few days to a couple of weeks.
